Dreamy Europe Trip Summer 2024 - Part 1 Itinerary

Last summer, we spent about 2 weeks in Western Europe. More specifically Germany, Austria, Northern Italy, and France with a pass through Monaco. This was our first European trip after the pandemic, so we were really looking forward to it!

On this post, I will cover the itinerary for the whole trip, and then the following posts will be the usual details and stories from each place. We flew in from Jakarta to Frankfurt and flew out from Paris. Why? Well it was simply because those are the only available promo fares for Europe at that time hahaha.

For Schengen visa, I applied via German Embassy, represented by the VFS in Kuningan City. Note that the German embassy will only accept your application if you are staying there the longest, or if itā€™s one of the longest and you land there first if that makes sense. It means that even if you enter the EU area via Germany, if you donā€™t stay there the longest they wonā€™t accept your application. The visa processing took about 3 weeks, but the appointment time is scarce. So make sure you give yourself enough time to apply for a visa if you need one.

Now letā€™s move on to the itinerary:

  • Day 1: Arrive in Frankfurt and immediately take the train to Munich. Explore Munich
  • Day 2: Day trip to Fussen to visit the iconic Neuschwenstein Castle.
  • Day 3: Go to Innsbruck, Austria and explore Innsbruck
  • Day 4: Go to Top of Innsbruck and then drive to the Dolomites, Italy. Explore Dolomites
  • Day 5: Explore more of Dolomites
  • Day 6: Drive to Parma with stops in Bolzano and Verona
  • Day 7: Parma ham tour, and explore more of Parma
  • Day 8: Drive to Ventimiglia with a stop at Genova and Finale Ligure
  • Day 9: Drive to Valensole with a stop in Monaco and Mandelieu
  • Day 10-11: Explore Provence area and the lavender fields
  • Day 12: Drive to Arconcey with a stop at Marius Fabre soap factory, Avignon, and Vienne
  • Day 13: Drive to Paris, explore Paris
  • Day 14: Fly back to Jakarta

For this trip, weā€™ve mixed our transportation mode between trains and rental car. At first I wasnā€™t sure about doing such a long road trip but after talking to a few friends I gained confidence :D We rented a car from Sixt in Munich, and dropped off the car in Paris. There was an extra charge for a one-way trip rental but it was better than buying round trip plane tickets from the same place.

Throughout our trip, we stayed in hotels in Germany and Austria, and for the rest of the trip we stayed in a privately-managed accommodations. All of them were booked via Agoda, Booking, and AirBnB.

Food-wise, Europe definitely didnā€™t disappoint. You pay dearly for the food, but they were delicious. :D I think that covers the main things, please look forward to the next post!

Nintendo Switch Sleeve Tutorial

Hi! I'm Kirana from woofkiki.blogspot.co.id . I am going to write an introduction for this blog post. We bought a Nintendo Switch in Japan.  I really liked it and played with it almost everyday. If you're wondering what a Nintendo Switch is, it is a video game where you can basically  "switch" everything. The joy-cons and even the game! You can also connect it to your TV. It would be nice to bring it around with you, but when you put it in your bag... Oh no! The screen scratched! So, this is a sleeve that will fix that. Let's get started!šŸ˜Š Kirana Now the tutorial (by Kirana's mom)... 1. Make your pattern according to the picture below. It is basically a 6"x24" rectangle with a semi circle at one end. Note: this is not a printable pattern 1. Cut your outer fabric, lining, and batting(optional). In this tutorial, I used minky for lining and a pre-quilted fabric for the cover, so I didn't need extra batting. For batting, I recomm...

World of Ghibli Exhibition Jakarta 2017

A few months back I received an email about World of Ghibli exhibition in Jakarta. My skeptical brain immediately thought, "Aah, how good could it be... I've visited the museum in Mitaka   and it's probably not going to be any better." Fast forward to August, a few of my Japan loving friends mentioned that rumours said that the displays are very good, made by Indonesians in cooperations with Ghibli representatives from Japan. In fact, so good that the Japanese company plans to take the displays and give them a home in Japan. Well hearing this from several different people definitely piqued my interest and I decided to check it out. It turned out that Miss Kiki and DH also wanted to go so I bought tickets from Traveloka  because they had a sale.  In the morning of our visit day, I asked Miss Kiki if she wanted to dress up as Kiki when she goes and she excitedly said yes. I made her a red bow headband with Cotton and Steel's Supreme Solid in Bandana  ...

Japan Trip June 2016 - Part 9 - Osaka

It was a super hot and bright morning and we were all packed and ready to ride the train to Osaka. We had no excuse to take a taxi so we walked to Kyoto Station... It was a rather short ride considering we moved cities, it was still around noon when we arrived at Osaka Station. The AirBnb property I had booked looked close to the station on the map, but it was further than expected. We were so sweaty by the time we got there, mostly because of our backpacks and our suitcases! I was very impressed Miss Kiki carried her backpack without complaints even though it was pretty stuffed by then. Taken from Osaka Station We had to change our wet and sticky clothes upon arrival, and after a bit of rest we decided to head out. First to Tenjimbashisuji Shopping Street listed on a tourist guide just over 1 km away. It was so hot and sunny I regretted not taking a hat for any of us. I was lucky I hadn't forgotten to bring my sunglasses. When we got there, we real...
