Dreamy Europe Trip Summer 2024 - Part 3 Neuschwanstein Castle Germany

It was the second day and I had had something exciting planned! The Neuschwanstein Castle is world-famous for being the inspiration of Disneyā€™s Cinderella castle. One look at the shape and youā€™ll see the resemblance. Prior to our travel, I have done my research and decided not to go inside the castle but simply view it from the outside. Marien bridge is one of the best viewing spot but weā€™ll talk more about it later.

That morning, we had breakfast in our room, making use of the ensuite kitchen. We bought the ingredients the day before at the grocery store. Nothing too fancy but tomatoes and sausages do taste a lot better in Europe :D

Breakfast

For our trip to Fussen, I had bought Bayern Tickets. This is ideal for groups up to 5 people, because you can save quite a bit! The ticket covers all regional bus and train rides in Bavaria for one day, and the second to fifth tickets in a group is only a fraction of the first ticket price. The tickets can be purchased online.

When we arrived at the train station, we still had sometime before the train is scheduled to depart. So we took the opportunity to explore the area around the station.

At the train station

Finally it was time to board the train! By the time we got on the train there were no more seats so we had to stand. The train departed a little late. Then for some reason, in the middle of the way, the train stopped. It was a complete stop. No one knew what was happening and there was no announcement for a while. We stood still for about half an hour until they started moving again, with an announcement that there was a problem and everyone on board needed to alight at the next station, and catch a different train! In the end, we arrived more than an hour later than planned. The upside of this disturbance is that we got seats on the second train :D

When we arrived in Fussen, we had to switch to a bus that will take us to Schwangau. Alas, we missed our stop and we went pretty far before we finally got off in the middle of nowhere and backtrack on another bus. Luckily we had our Bayern tickets so we didnā€™t have to pay extra for this mishap.

We got off our bus at the Schwangau station, and we walked our way up to the shuttle bus terminal. We could potentially walk our way up to the castle without the shuttle bus, but life is complicated enough. We are not keen on torturing ourselves haha. If you fancy a horse carriage, that is also an option. From the shuttle bus terminal we could see another castle nearby.

In the shuttle bus

Rather than going straight to the Neuschwanstein castle, we headed to Marienbrucke first. This brigde is known to be the best viewing spot for the castle. There was a line up to go on the bridge as the capacity is limited, but the line moved pretty fast and the view from the bridge was indeed breathtaking.

After the bridge, we walked down towards the castle itself before making our way down to Schwangau. This time we walked because going down is a walk in the park ;)

From Schwangau, we took the bus back to Fussen. We had the chance to walk around Fussen a little bit while waiting for our train to go back to Munich. The train was late, and somewhere in the middle of the way we were stranded again and had to change to another train. Lol. Luckily I have booked a rental car for the next day. Iā€™m not sure I can deal with this train shenanigans much longer :D

Stranded yet again

And finally itā€™s dinner time! We ate in Munich near the hotel, food was good but not great.

Nintendo Switch Sleeve Tutorial

Hi! I'm Kirana from woofkiki.blogspot.co.id . I am going to write an introduction for this blog post. We bought a Nintendo Switch in Japan.  I really liked it and played with it almost everyday. If you're wondering what a Nintendo Switch is, it is a video game where you can basically  "switch" everything. The joy-cons and even the game! You can also connect it to your TV. It would be nice to bring it around with you, but when you put it in your bag... Oh no! The screen scratched! So, this is a sleeve that will fix that. Let's get started!šŸ˜Š Kirana Now the tutorial (by Kirana's mom)... 1. Make your pattern according to the picture below. It is basically a 6"x24" rectangle with a semi circle at one end. Note: this is not a printable pattern 1. Cut your outer fabric, lining, and batting(optional). In this tutorial, I used minky for lining and a pre-quilted fabric for the cover, so I didn't need extra batting. For batting, I recomm...

World of Ghibli Exhibition Jakarta 2017

A few months back I received an email about World of Ghibli exhibition in Jakarta. My skeptical brain immediately thought, "Aah, how good could it be... I've visited the museum in Mitaka   and it's probably not going to be any better." Fast forward to August, a few of my Japan loving friends mentioned that rumours said that the displays are very good, made by Indonesians in cooperations with Ghibli representatives from Japan. In fact, so good that the Japanese company plans to take the displays and give them a home in Japan. Well hearing this from several different people definitely piqued my interest and I decided to check it out. It turned out that Miss Kiki and DH also wanted to go so I bought tickets from Traveloka  because they had a sale.  In the morning of our visit day, I asked Miss Kiki if she wanted to dress up as Kiki when she goes and she excitedly said yes. I made her a red bow headband with Cotton and Steel's Supreme Solid in Bandana  ...

Japan Trip June 2016 - Part 9 - Osaka

It was a super hot and bright morning and we were all packed and ready to ride the train to Osaka. We had no excuse to take a taxi so we walked to Kyoto Station... It was a rather short ride considering we moved cities, it was still around noon when we arrived at Osaka Station. The AirBnb property I had booked looked close to the station on the map, but it was further than expected. We were so sweaty by the time we got there, mostly because of our backpacks and our suitcases! I was very impressed Miss Kiki carried her backpack without complaints even though it was pretty stuffed by then. Taken from Osaka Station We had to change our wet and sticky clothes upon arrival, and after a bit of rest we decided to head out. First to Tenjimbashisuji Shopping Street listed on a tourist guide just over 1 km away. It was so hot and sunny I regretted not taking a hat for any of us. I was lucky I hadn't forgotten to bring my sunglasses. When we got there, we real...
