A Month in North America Part 13 - Ontario Day 7

The plan for this day was to go to Casa Loma, CN Tower, and then in the afternoon go to have dinner with Dyeda and his friend in Etobicoke. Well it didn't go very smoothly but we managed okay anyway. Here's the story...

We left Milton close to 11 am and didn't get to Toronto until around noon. We went to Casa Loma first and took pictures on the outside.

Then from Casa Loma, we went to meet up with KB to park in her work parking spot. We were in a rush to get out of there, I passed the car keys to DH and he locked the car and put the key in his pocket. Then after a quick stop for lunch, we took the metro to Union Station to get to the CN Tower.

The walk to CN Tower from the station was longer than I expected, especially because of all the construction going on around the station area. We were disoriented and took a little longer than planned to get there.

And when we finally did get there, there was a trail of people lining up to get tickets. I think it took almost half an hour just to get the tickets. Since I was not planning to go up the tower anyway, I headed back to the car to get it out by 4 pm. Since I did not have a working SIM card, I took DH's phone and I left him mine, in hopes that he could use the wifi at CN Tower's gift shop when he is done the tour. But just in case, we set a meeting time and place anyway.

I got back to the train station no problem, and also got to the car no problem. The BIG problem was... I did not have the car key! It was in DH's pocket. And since he had my phone and without a working SIM card, he was unreachable.

I contacted CN Tower in hopes that they have a PA system to call lost visitors. Nope, they didn't. They suggested that I took a cab and come back to CN Tower to meet up with them. According to   KB, metro would be faster than a taxi during rush hour. So I ran back to the metro station half panicking and tried to purchase metro tokens. It was cheaper to buy 3 tokens so I calculated it was better to buy 3: 1 for me to get there and 2 for me and DH to get back. Then as I was about to put $10 into the machine, a guy approached me and offered his 3 tokens in exchange of my $10. I saw that the tokens looked legit, so in a rush without thinking I agreed and went. Only later on I realized that I got ripped off! Had I bought the tokens at the machine, it would give me $1.60 back with the 3 tokens. Sigh.....

Anyway, I got 3 tokens, put 1 in the token box and rushed into the metro. Just as I got on, my phone rang. DH got wifi and we connected! Like a lightning I bolted off the metro before the door closed and DH agreed to meet me at the car instead. At least then I could relax a little, I slowly walked to the car from the station. I passed by a coffee shop so I stopped and got myself a maple latte and sat there for a while. By this time we were already waaaay behind schedule to meet up with Dyeda.

Not too long after, DH and Miss Kiki arrived. DH was very impressed with how determined Miss Kiki was to walk fast to 'rescue' mama. He had told her that they needed to go fast to rescue mama and she went walking all the way without complaints. I do have the best kid in the world!

From there we drove to Etobicoke and instead of going to the restaurant we changed our plans to eating at Dyeda's friend's home instead. They fired up the pit and grilled sausages. There were also potatoes, salad, and fish. So much good food! And good company too...

Nintendo Switch Sleeve Tutorial

Hi! I'm Kirana from woofkiki.blogspot.co.id . I am going to write an introduction for this blog post. We bought a Nintendo Switch in Japan.  I really liked it and played with it almost everyday. If you're wondering what a Nintendo Switch is, it is a video game where you can basically  "switch" everything. The joy-cons and even the game! You can also connect it to your TV. It would be nice to bring it around with you, but when you put it in your bag... Oh no! The screen scratched! So, this is a sleeve that will fix that. Let's get started!šŸ˜Š Kirana Now the tutorial (by Kirana's mom)... 1. Make your pattern according to the picture below. It is basically a 6"x24" rectangle with a semi circle at one end. Note: this is not a printable pattern 1. Cut your outer fabric, lining, and batting(optional). In this tutorial, I used minky for lining and a pre-quilted fabric for the cover, so I didn't need extra batting. For batting, I recomm...

World of Ghibli Exhibition Jakarta 2017

A few months back I received an email about World of Ghibli exhibition in Jakarta. My skeptical brain immediately thought, "Aah, how good could it be... I've visited the museum in Mitaka   and it's probably not going to be any better." Fast forward to August, a few of my Japan loving friends mentioned that rumours said that the displays are very good, made by Indonesians in cooperations with Ghibli representatives from Japan. In fact, so good that the Japanese company plans to take the displays and give them a home in Japan. Well hearing this from several different people definitely piqued my interest and I decided to check it out. It turned out that Miss Kiki and DH also wanted to go so I bought tickets from Traveloka  because they had a sale.  In the morning of our visit day, I asked Miss Kiki if she wanted to dress up as Kiki when she goes and she excitedly said yes. I made her a red bow headband with Cotton and Steel's Supreme Solid in Bandana  ...

Japan Trip June 2016 - Part 9 - Osaka

It was a super hot and bright morning and we were all packed and ready to ride the train to Osaka. We had no excuse to take a taxi so we walked to Kyoto Station... It was a rather short ride considering we moved cities, it was still around noon when we arrived at Osaka Station. The AirBnb property I had booked looked close to the station on the map, but it was further than expected. We were so sweaty by the time we got there, mostly because of our backpacks and our suitcases! I was very impressed Miss Kiki carried her backpack without complaints even though it was pretty stuffed by then. Taken from Osaka Station We had to change our wet and sticky clothes upon arrival, and after a bit of rest we decided to head out. First to Tenjimbashisuji Shopping Street listed on a tourist guide just over 1 km away. It was so hot and sunny I regretted not taking a hat for any of us. I was lucky I hadn't forgotten to bring my sunglasses. When we got there, we real...
