Summer in North America 2018 Part 23 - Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains

The Whistler Village I wrote about in the previous post is located at the base of two mountains: Whistler and Blackcomb. From the village you can take Whistler Village Gondola up, and then continued on one of the ski lifts to the peak where the brand new Cloudraker Skybridge is located. I bought our lift tickets online, they have special discounts if you pre-purchase your tickets. From the online purchase you will receive a confirmation email that you have to show at the ticket booth to get the actual tickets. You pay for a pass and it will allow you to take any of the gondolas and lifts up there.

Bike lifts

Some carry bikes, some carry people

Whistler Village Gondola
When we got off the Whistler Village Gondola, we stopped a bit for some pictures. The view was breathtaking. There are walking and hiking trails that you can take from here. We could really feel the temperature difference here, so we put our sweaters and jackets on.

In front of the gondola base

We walked down the Peak Express Traverse to get to the Peak Express Chair. These lifts took us to the Top of the World Summit where the Cloudraker Skybridge is located.

It was our first time riding on a ski lift, and it was cold and scary!

We finally reached the Top of the World summit and went straight to the Cloudraker Skybridge. Opened on Canada Day 2018, the 130 m long suspension bridge has attracted quite a few visitors when we were there. We were quite excited to be there on it's 8th day!!

Situated over the Whistler Bowl, the bridge hung at a dizzying height that I turned around after a few meters of walking on it. Miss Kiki and DH went all the way to the other end and back. Later on DH went back and forth a few times with the GoPro to get a time lapsed video.

We spent quite a bit of time at the peak trying to take in all the beauty the mountains could offer. It was nice just to sit back and do nothing. We unpacked a couple of sandwiches that we bought in the village and had lunch at the peak.

On the peak you can also take a photo with the Whistler Mountain Inukshuk, built for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler.

From the peak, we took the lift back to the Roundhouse Lodge and lined up for the award-winning Peak 2 Peak Gondola. We originally wanted to get on the glass-bottom gondola but seeing that it was a long lineup and they are rare, we decided to go on a regular one.

The gondola took us from Whistler mountain all the way over to Blackcomb mountain.

By the time we got to Blackcomb mountain, the lifts to go to the peak already stopped running. Thus, we went to their restaurant and ordered some warm drinks.

For the way back to Whistler mountain, we were lucky enough that the line for the Silver Glass Bottom cabins were empty so we got to ride in one in the end.

We topped up our water bottles with their local mountain fresh water and went back to the village...

We loved our trip to Whistler! The 3 hour drive was absolutely worth it!

Nintendo Switch Sleeve Tutorial

Hi! I'm Kirana from woofkiki.blogspot.co.id . I am going to write an introduction for this blog post. We bought a Nintendo Switch in Japan.  I really liked it and played with it almost everyday. If you're wondering what a Nintendo Switch is, it is a video game where you can basically  "switch" everything. The joy-cons and even the game! You can also connect it to your TV. It would be nice to bring it around with you, but when you put it in your bag... Oh no! The screen scratched! So, this is a sleeve that will fix that. Let's get started!😊 Kirana Now the tutorial (by Kirana's mom)... 1. Make your pattern according to the picture below. It is basically a 6"x24" rectangle with a semi circle at one end. Note: this is not a printable pattern 1. Cut your outer fabric, lining, and batting(optional). In this tutorial, I used minky for lining and a pre-quilted fabric for the cover, so I didn't need extra batting. For batting, I recomm...

Spring in Egypt Part 9 - Luxor Temple

At the time when we arrived at Luxor temple it was already after dusk and it became a little difficult to take photos. I compensated by setting my camera ISO to 4000 to make tripod-less picture-taking possible even though the grains became more visible. Just like the previous nights, the moon still looked round to me. I wasn't sure which one of those moons was the actual full moon. We walked around the temple first with Michael for explanations about the temple. In the distance we were able to hear the adzan calling the people for prayer. Situated in the east bank, the construction of the temple was started by Amenhotep III, continued and finished by the famous King Tut and Horemheb, and then added on to by Rameses II and finally by Alexander the Great. Unlike the other temples we had previously visited, this temple is not dedicated to a single cult/god. Instead, it is used as a place to rejuvenate kingship. May of the kings were said to have been coronated at this temple. ...

Japan Winter Holiday 2017 Part 7 - Otaru Sakaimachi

On our second day in Otaru after we had breakfast and ice cream , we continued walking to Sakaimachi. This shopping street is one of the busiest in the city and is where a lot of Otaru attraction is located. In front of one of the stores there, we saw this cute dog wearing a Minion outfit. Of course Miss Kiki jumped and squealed and asked if she could pet it. We asked permission from the owner to take a picture with it. Along the street they have rock statues in the shape of famous characters like Anpanman and Mickey Mouse. With Anpanman It was a very nice day, we were able to walk around and had fun without feeling cold even though there were a lot of ice and snow. Check out the platforms they set up on the hill. We think that it's to prevent snow slides... Most of the buildings there were old style,,,  Many shops sell fresh seafood and they would cook it for you by order. As we walked past a souvenir shop, we saw a poster for these snowball make...
