Part 1
We started the second day with early morning packing - we would be moving to a different resort that day. Breakfast was at 7 AM, they served Fried noodle, fried eggs, and fried bananas. Not my usual type of breakfast, but it was not bad... It was a cloudy morning but I could see the sun peeking through the clouds.
One thing I forgot to mention in the last post was that the dining area of the
Derawan Dive Resort had a hole in the middle that looked down right into the water below. In the previous night when we had dinner, we saw some fish there. Maybe they gathered because people threw some food down there once in a while. In the morning though, when we took a peek, there were large sized fish there! Unfortunately I do not know what type of fish they were. It was one of those flat triangular shape type.

Our tour companions were a family (extended) of 10, consisting of 3 siblings, their spouses, and children, plus a friend.

One advantage of joining a tour is that a lot of small things were taken care of. Our luggages were loaded into the boat by the tour staff so we did not have to worry about them. This day we had 3 more lean and strong local staff to assist us on our journey. For us especially this is very helpful because they can easily balance on the boat and be Miss Kiki's "elevator" on and off the boat.

The short half-hour trip was a bit rough, but by the time we got to our first destination, the Sangalaki Island, the sky already slightly cleared up. The island was even more breathtaking than the one we were at, with clean sand and green/blue water. I could not choose which pictures I liked best, so I am posting a whole lot here.....

Not far from the beach, they had a turtle reserve centre. We were very fortunate to be able to see and touch newborn turtles, less than 1 day old. They are very cute creatures.
