Happy Birthday, Canada!

Today, we are celebrating Canada Day. How did July 1st get to be Canada Day? This is something I've always wondered about but never bothered asking... or wiki-ing. But today, with some Canada Day spirit in me, I took a few minutes of my very rare free time to read about it.

This is what wikipedia says
Frequently referred to as "Canada's birthday", particularly in the popular press,[1][2][3] the occasion marks the joining of the British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada into a federation of four provinces (the Province of Canada being divided, in the process, into Ontario and Quebec) on July 1, 1867. Canada became a kingdom in its own right on that date,[4][5][6] but the British Parliament kept limited rights of political control over the new country that were shed by stages over the years until the last vestiges were surrendered in 1982 when the Constitution Act patriated the Canadian constitution.

 So what are you doing for Canada Day? A lot of families spend time together at the beach, the zoo, museum, etc. A lot of cities across Canada have their own festivals and celebrations. For me, this year, it means I get to work and promote my classes to all the families attending the festivities! :)

Japan Trip June 2016 - Part 9 - Osaka

It was a super hot and bright morning and we were all packed and ready to ride the train to Osaka. We had no excuse to take a taxi so we walked to Kyoto Station... It was a rather short ride considering we moved cities, it was still around noon when we arrived at Osaka Station. The AirBnb property I had booked looked close to the station on the map, but it was further than expected.
