Clear sky, fresh ocean air, and a tan much softer than what Jakarta sun would've given me, were the things that we got after we crossed Rose Kennedy Greenway and reached Christopher Columbus Park. This was after our walk following part of the Freedom Trail from Boston Common to Faneuil Hall.
The Christopher Columbus Park was not particularly large, but it has charming trellises in it as well as part of the Harborwalk. Of course I had to ask DH to take pictures of me in it, but after a few shots that just didn't quite cut it for me I gave up and took pictures of him instead. :D
Just a few steps away from the trellis was the Harborwalk.
From the park we traced back towards the Greenway and followed its path to the south. We passed Mother's Walk area with bricks dedicated to mothers. You can pay $500 and dedicate a paver too!
Throughout the Greenway there were many art installations, seating areas, and of course green areas. It's very refreshing to see this in a downtown area.
As we walked, there was a building that stood above the rest... literally. It was a clock tower that was the old custom house!
As we were walking I spotted an arch shaped building and it piqued my interest. We walked over and quickly checked it out. The arch brought us to the Harbourwalk and some cruises would board there (as we found out a few days later). Far in the distance we noticed a ship with sails up, I think it was the Boston Tea Party ship but I didn't confirm it.
So we walked back to the financial district and saw Blue Bottle Coffee in a very interesting looking glass building. The Blue Bottle coffee we tried in Tokyo a few years back wasn't that great but we decided to give this one a try. We bought a cup of latte to share. I didn't like it so much but DH thought it was good.
Fuelled with coffee, we continued walking. We headed back past Boston Common and through Boston Public Garden. The garden has a lake with swan boats that visitors can ride. It was around noon at the time so it was quite hot, we didn't stay for long but continued further towards Boston Public Library. Please stay tuned for the next post with pictures from the beautiful library!
