On the 4th day, Japan greeted us with more clouds and mist. The mountain-view room that I booked in Hotel Mystays Fuji Onsen Resort was rather wasted. See the roller coaster tracks in the picture below? This picture was taken from our room. There was supposed to be Mt. Fuji on the background but that morning it was nowhere to be seen. T_T

Dear Customer,
This is Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center. Thank you for contacting us.
As foï½’ the transport from Kawaguchiko to Hakone-Yumoto, you need to take buses and requires at least two transfers on your way to Yumoto. All the transport that you may want to take is included in Fuji-Hakone Pass.
You are going to take Fuji-kyu bus from Kawaguchiko to get to Gotemba station, first. At Gotemba, you are going to take bus line W and G to get to Sengoku area.Lastly, you take bus line T from Sengoku to Hakone-Yumoto Station.
We would not say this is very challanging schedule, but just in case if you are concerned...If you are considering booking accomodation located on diffferent place than Yumoto, you may consider hotels around Sengoku. Sengoku is pretty quiet and chill place with few tourist attraction such as musiums and nature.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Thus, that's what we did. One thing I felt silly about..., the bus we took from Kawaguchiko Station actually passed our hotel again and we could've just waited at the bus stop there!

Back on the bus! |
We arrived at Hakone-Yumoto Station at around lunch time. We got off the bus and walked across the familiar red bridge towards our hotel. The Yumoto Fujiya Hotel is a historical hotel located just across the river from Hakone Yumoto Station. Perched on the hill side, they provided an elevator to access the lobby right by the bridge. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the hotel!
It was still too early to check in to our room, so we left our backpacks there and went out. Our first stop was a quick lunch at Renoir Cafe. We had ham and cheese toasts and coffee. It was regular cafe au lait but quite decent. Located on the 2nd floor, they had a nice river view.
We then crossed the street to Hakone Yumoto Station to catch a train, we plan to follow the same route that we did in 2013. However this time I wanted to spend some time at Hakone Open Air Museum that we didn't get to visit then.
Checking which stop we needed |
Please stay tuned for the next post about Hakone Open Air Museum!
