Japan September 2018 Part 5 - From Fuji to Hakone

On the 4th day, Japan greeted us with more clouds and mist. The mountain-view room that I booked in Hotel Mystays Fuji Onsen Resort was rather wasted.  See the roller coaster tracks in the picture below? This picture was taken from our room. There was supposed to be Mt. Fuji on the background but that morning it was nowhere to be seen.  T_T

View from our room
We checked out of our hotel and walked to the train station. It was great that we didn't have our suitcases with us. We took a Fujikyu train to Kawaguchiko Station, and then we took a bus from the station to continue our journey to Hakone. This bus is covered by our Fuji Hakone Pass, and we had to transit and changed buses twice to reach Hakone.

This is what Odakyu Service Centre said...

Dear Customer,

This is Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center. Thank you for contacting us.

As foļ½’ the transport from Kawaguchiko to Hakone-Yumoto, you need to take buses and requires at least two transfers on your way to Yumoto. All the transport that you may want to take is included in Fuji-Hakone Pass.

You are going to take Fuji-kyu bus from Kawaguchiko to get to Gotemba station, first.
At Gotemba, you are going to take bus line W and G to get to Sengoku area.
Lastly, you take bus line T from Sengoku to Hakone-Yumoto Station.

We would not say this is very challanging schedule, but just in case if you are concerned...
If you are considering booking accomodation located on diffferent place than Yumoto, you may consider hotels around Sengoku. Sengoku is pretty quiet and chill place with few tourist attraction such as musiums and nature.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Thus, that's what we did. One thing I felt silly about..., the bus we took from Kawaguchiko Station actually passed our hotel again and we could've just waited at the bus stop there!

Back on the bus!
We arrived at Hakone-Yumoto Station at around lunch time. We got off the bus and walked across the familiar red bridge towards our hotel. The Yumoto Fujiya Hotel is a historical hotel located just across the river from Hakone Yumoto Station. Perched on the hill side, they provided an elevator to access the lobby right by the bridge. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the hotel!

It was still too early to check in to our room, so we left our backpacks there and went out. Our first stop was a quick lunch at Renoir Cafe. We had ham and cheese toasts and coffee. It was regular cafe au lait but quite decent. Located on the 2nd floor, they had a nice river view.

We then crossed the street to Hakone Yumoto Station to catch a train, we plan to follow the same route that we did in 2013. However this time I wanted to spend some time at Hakone Open Air Museum that we didn't get to visit then.

Checking which stop we needed

Please stay tuned for the next post about Hakone Open Air Museum!

Nintendo Switch Sleeve Tutorial

Hi! I'm Kirana from woofkiki.blogspot.co.id . I am going to write an introduction for this blog post. We bought a Nintendo Switch in Japan.  I really liked it and played with it almost everyday. If you're wondering what a Nintendo Switch is, it is a video game where you can basically  "switch" everything. The joy-cons and even the game! You can also connect it to your TV. It would be nice to bring it around with you, but when you put it in your bag... Oh no! The screen scratched! So, this is a sleeve that will fix that. Let's get started!😊 Kirana Now the tutorial (by Kirana's mom)... 1. Make your pattern according to the picture below. It is basically a 6"x24" rectangle with a semi circle at one end. Note: this is not a printable pattern 1. Cut your outer fabric, lining, and batting(optional). In this tutorial, I used minky for lining and a pre-quilted fabric for the cover, so I didn't need extra batting. For batting, I recomm...

Japan Trip June 2016 - Part 9 - Osaka

It was a super hot and bright morning and we were all packed and ready to ride the train to Osaka. We had no excuse to take a taxi so we walked to Kyoto Station... It was a rather short ride considering we moved cities, it was still around noon when we arrived at Osaka Station. The AirBnb property I had booked looked close to the station on the map, but it was further than expected. We were so sweaty by the time we got there, mostly because of our backpacks and our suitcases! I was very impressed Miss Kiki carried her backpack without complaints even though it was pretty stuffed by then. Taken from Osaka Station We had to change our wet and sticky clothes upon arrival, and after a bit of rest we decided to head out. First to Tenjimbashisuji Shopping Street listed on a tourist guide just over 1 km away. It was so hot and sunny I regretted not taking a hat for any of us. I was lucky I hadn't forgotten to bring my sunglasses. When we got there, we real...

Motykas in Asia 2016 Part 7 - West Java

One day after we arrived in Jakarta from Phuket, we went on a road trip to Bandung, West Java. We were on a roll! Hahaha. Our first destination was the White Crater, a beautiful place located in Ciwidey, outside Bandung.  We left our home at around 7 am and arrived at the crater at almost noon. It was a loooong drive. Nonetheless, the view was breathtaking. It was a bit chilly up there, even the Winnipegers pulled out their jackets. :D The crater was pale green with strong sulphur smell, they recommend a maximum of 15 minutes at the bottom. Around the crater were serene looking tree barks with little or no leaves. During a certain time of the day, there would usually be fog coming down over the crater but we didn't get to see it. We spent about an hour at the crater and we moved on to the Rancabali Tea Plantation about 3 km away for some pictures. Miss Kiki was so...
