Japan Trip June 2016 - Part 7 Fushimi Inari Taisha

We couldn't decide on where to go on our second day in Kyoto. Originally I had planned for us to go to either Fushimi Inari Taisha or the Bamboo Grove in Arashiyama. We only had one full day in Kyoto so we had to choose only one. By that time, Oma was not too excited about going to either of them it seems, maybe she was too tired. Anyway we decided to go to Fushimi Inari in the end.

We decided that it was the best day to wear our Yukatas and take pictures all around Kyoto. I am warning you in advance that this post is full of our narcissistic photos. :D

It was a nice sunny day with a little bit of cloud. We walked to Kyoto Station for breakfast and coffee and then took the train to Fushimi Inari.

It was a very short train ride and the entrance gate was just across the station.

With the red torii gates...

Momiji (Japanese Maple) Leaves

There were a lot of food vendors on the way out, so we decided to try a bunch of snacks for lunch...

Another interesting thing happened that day, here's my post about it...

Oma tried grapefruit juice.

And that concludes our Fushimi Inari Taisha trip. We went somewhere else afterwards but I decided to separate the post because there are just too many pictures. :)

Nintendo Switch Sleeve Tutorial

Hi! I'm Kirana from woofkiki.blogspot.co.id . I am going to write an introduction for this blog post. We bought a Nintendo Switch in Japan.  I really liked it and played with it almost everyday. If you're wondering what a Nintendo Switch is, it is a video game where you can basically  "switch" everything. The joy-cons and even the game! You can also connect it to your TV. It would be nice to bring it around with you, but when you put it in your bag... Oh no! The screen scratched! So, this is a sleeve that will fix that. Let's get started!šŸ˜Š Kirana Now the tutorial (by Kirana's mom)... 1. Make your pattern according to the picture below. It is basically a 6"x24" rectangle with a semi circle at one end. Note: this is not a printable pattern 1. Cut your outer fabric, lining, and batting(optional). In this tutorial, I used minky for lining and a pre-quilted fabric for the cover, so I didn't need extra batting. For batting, I recomm...

World of Ghibli Exhibition Jakarta 2017

A few months back I received an email about World of Ghibli exhibition in Jakarta. My skeptical brain immediately thought, "Aah, how good could it be... I've visited the museum in Mitaka   and it's probably not going to be any better." Fast forward to August, a few of my Japan loving friends mentioned that rumours said that the displays are very good, made by Indonesians in cooperations with Ghibli representatives from Japan. In fact, so good that the Japanese company plans to take the displays and give them a home in Japan. Well hearing this from several different people definitely piqued my interest and I decided to check it out. It turned out that Miss Kiki and DH also wanted to go so I bought tickets from Traveloka  because they had a sale.  In the morning of our visit day, I asked Miss Kiki if she wanted to dress up as Kiki when she goes and she excitedly said yes. I made her a red bow headband with Cotton and Steel's Supreme Solid in Bandana  ...

Japan Trip June 2016 - Part 9 - Osaka

It was a super hot and bright morning and we were all packed and ready to ride the train to Osaka. We had no excuse to take a taxi so we walked to Kyoto Station... It was a rather short ride considering we moved cities, it was still around noon when we arrived at Osaka Station. The AirBnb property I had booked looked close to the station on the map, but it was further than expected. We were so sweaty by the time we got there, mostly because of our backpacks and our suitcases! I was very impressed Miss Kiki carried her backpack without complaints even though it was pretty stuffed by then. Taken from Osaka Station We had to change our wet and sticky clothes upon arrival, and after a bit of rest we decided to head out. First to Tenjimbashisuji Shopping Street listed on a tourist guide just over 1 km away. It was so hot and sunny I regretted not taking a hat for any of us. I was lucky I hadn't forgotten to bring my sunglasses. When we got there, we real...
