Japan September 2018 Part 2 - Pokemon Centre DX and Cafe

On our second day in Tokyo, after buying our Fuji Hakone Passes and a new lens for the Olympus, we took Miss Kiki to Pokemon Centre DX. For Pokemon fans, there are many Pokemon Centres and Shops in Japan. The Centres are big stores with more variety of goods compared to the smaller scale stores. The reason I chose the DX location in Nihonbashi is that this location is home to the permanent Pokemon Cafe that opened just earlier in March this year. This cafe is the first permanent Pokemon Cafe in the world.

We took the metro from Shinjuku to Nihonbashi Station. The location on Google maps wasn't very clear, so it took a bit of walking around for us to find it. Please note that Takashimaya in Nihonbashi has more than one building, so don't try to access it from the basement from the station. Instead, come out on the street level and it will be easier to find.

When we arrived on the 5th floor, we found that the cafe had been fully booked. Miss Kiki was so disappointed! It turned out that you have to make reservations in advance here. Fortunately, they allow you to put your name on a waiting list in case there are cancellations. I asked my mom to take Miss Kiki inside the centre and I parked myself at the queue in front of the cafe. This queue is for putting your name on a waiting list. I stood there for about half an hour with a few people in front of me and more people behind me. Finally a staff came out and took our names. I got lucky and got a reservation on the spot for a later time! I put my name down and went in to catch up with Miss Kiki and grandma.

So.... what happens when you let your kid loose with grandma in a Pokemon store? That means the kid has access to a bottomless wallet! Lol... Luckily even though Miss Kiki already got more than she would've if she were to go with me, she knows when to stop. Grandma ended up with more Pokemon stuff than Miss Kiki. :D

We finished our shopping just in time for our reservation at the cafe. We were brought to our table and were assigned a server.

Ordering food via tablet

Halloween special menu
Milk and berry shake. Kiki shook her drink herself.

Free coaster for every drink purchased.

Coffee with souvenir mug

Pikachu pasta carbonara. Didn't taste good.

Eevie burger. Taste was so so.

Eevie made an appearance.

It was a very happy afternoon for Miss Kiki! She walked with us to Tokyo Station in good spirit. I wanted to go to the shopping area inside the Tokyo Station particularly to the Donguri Republic store. We walked around the shopping area and bought a few things until Miss Kiki got tired and asked to go somewhere else. I gave her options and she chose to go to a park. It was already late afternoon and the parks were closing soon. We hurriedly walked back to Nihonbashi station to take the metro to Koishikawa Korakuen Garden.

What happened next? Please stay tuned for the next post!

Nintendo Switch Sleeve Tutorial

Hi! I'm Kirana from woofkiki.blogspot.co.id . I am going to write an introduction for this blog post. We bought a Nintendo Switch in Japan.  I really liked it and played with it almost everyday. If you're wondering what a Nintendo Switch is, it is a video game where you can basically  "switch" everything. The joy-cons and even the game! You can also connect it to your TV. It would be nice to bring it around with you, but when you put it in your bag... Oh no! The screen scratched! So, this is a sleeve that will fix that. Let's get started!😊 Kirana Now the tutorial (by Kirana's mom)... 1. Make your pattern according to the picture below. It is basically a 6"x24" rectangle with a semi circle at one end. Note: this is not a printable pattern 1. Cut your outer fabric, lining, and batting(optional). In this tutorial, I used minky for lining and a pre-quilted fabric for the cover, so I didn't need extra batting. For batting, I recomm...

Spring in Egypt Part 9 - Luxor Temple

At the time when we arrived at Luxor temple it was already after dusk and it became a little difficult to take photos. I compensated by setting my camera ISO to 4000 to make tripod-less picture-taking possible even though the grains became more visible. Just like the previous nights, the moon still looked round to me. I wasn't sure which one of those moons was the actual full moon. We walked around the temple first with Michael for explanations about the temple. In the distance we were able to hear the adzan calling the people for prayer. Situated in the east bank, the construction of the temple was started by Amenhotep III, continued and finished by the famous King Tut and Horemheb, and then added on to by Rameses II and finally by Alexander the Great. Unlike the other temples we had previously visited, this temple is not dedicated to a single cult/god. Instead, it is used as a place to rejuvenate kingship. May of the kings were said to have been coronated at this temple. ...

Japan Winter Holiday 2017 Part 7 - Otaru Sakaimachi

On our second day in Otaru after we had breakfast and ice cream , we continued walking to Sakaimachi. This shopping street is one of the busiest in the city and is where a lot of Otaru attraction is located. In front of one of the stores there, we saw this cute dog wearing a Minion outfit. Of course Miss Kiki jumped and squealed and asked if she could pet it. We asked permission from the owner to take a picture with it. Along the street they have rock statues in the shape of famous characters like Anpanman and Mickey Mouse. With Anpanman It was a very nice day, we were able to walk around and had fun without feeling cold even though there were a lot of ice and snow. Check out the platforms they set up on the hill. We think that it's to prevent snow slides... Most of the buildings there were old style,,,  Many shops sell fresh seafood and they would cook it for you by order. As we walked past a souvenir shop, we saw a poster for these snowball make...
