Labuan Bajo 2024

It’s a big family trip time! You’ve read about our big family trips to Japan, Korea, and more; but those have been incomplete because my other sister wasn’t around. This time, during her visit to Indonesia, we made a special trip with her and her family. I had been sucessful in convincing them to travel to a domestic destination other than Bali, so we went to the famous Labuan Bajo. It was everyone’s (other than me, DH, and Miss Kiki’s) first time in Labuan Bajo I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did and get them hooked on Indonesian island travel :D

For this visit, we stayed in the resort and took a day trip on a speedboat. If you are more interested in a Liveaboard experience in one of those beautiful phinisi boats, you can check out my blogpost from when we sailed in Chakana Liveaboard.

We stayed at Sudamala Resort Komodo and they placed us in 4 rooms in a row, and every two rooms have connecting doors. This is very convenient for family groups like us.  After checking in, we walked to a nearby cafe called Pedro Coffee. It looked like it was in the middle of nowhere, but the google rating was very good so we decided to give it a try. The food didn’t disappoint!

That evening, we went to Le Bajo Flores for dinner. The place and view was very nice, but a few of the customers were smoking so it was less enjoyable. The food in general was good, though some dishes are better than others. The prices however, were high (for Indonesian standards anyway).

The following day, I had booked a private tour with speedboat for us to explore the usual attractions. Unfortunately Oma wasn’t feeling well and Opa stayed behind with her at the resort. So off we went!

Padar Island

Our first stop was the iconic Padar Island. I surprised myself by reaching the top in my previous visit, and this time it felt even easier. It turned out though, we were the only three from our group to have reached the top. Regardless, the view from the middle was also breath-taking.

Pink Beach

After Padar Island we went to the famous pink beach. Here everyone was able to enjoy the water and the amazing view. I was very happy that my sisters are finally willing to go see our beautiful landscapes beyond Bali ;)

Komodo Island

Next was the Komodo island. We saw a medium sized Komodo dragon.

Tika Makassar

Finally, we went to Tika Makassar for a little bit of snorkeling and some fun white sand.

It seemed like everyone had fun, I hope they would join me again in the next adventures :)
We finished off the day with seafood back in Labuan Bajo and opa joined us there.

The following day, Oma felt slightly better so we went out to the Harbour area. One bakery I thought was worth mentioning was the Komodough. It’s located on the main street, not too many seats, but they had really good pastries!

We spent the afternoon at the pool and beach at the resort.

It was finally time to go home, we spent some time in the morning at the resort and that was our trip! Thanks for reading and see you next time!

Nintendo Switch Sleeve Tutorial

Hi! I'm Kirana from woofkiki.blogspot.co.id . I am going to write an introduction for this blog post. We bought a Nintendo Switch in Japan.  I really liked it and played with it almost everyday. If you're wondering what a Nintendo Switch is, it is a video game where you can basically  "switch" everything. The joy-cons and even the game! You can also connect it to your TV. It would be nice to bring it around with you, but when you put it in your bag... Oh no! The screen scratched! So, this is a sleeve that will fix that. Let's get started!😊 Kirana Now the tutorial (by Kirana's mom)... 1. Make your pattern according to the picture below. It is basically a 6"x24" rectangle with a semi circle at one end. Note: this is not a printable pattern 1. Cut your outer fabric, lining, and batting(optional). In this tutorial, I used minky for lining and a pre-quilted fabric for the cover, so I didn't need extra batting. For batting, I recomm...

Spring in Egypt Part 9 - Luxor Temple

At the time when we arrived at Luxor temple it was already after dusk and it became a little difficult to take photos. I compensated by setting my camera ISO to 4000 to make tripod-less picture-taking possible even though the grains became more visible. Just like the previous nights, the moon still looked round to me. I wasn't sure which one of those moons was the actual full moon. We walked around the temple first with Michael for explanations about the temple. In the distance we were able to hear the adzan calling the people for prayer. Situated in the east bank, the construction of the temple was started by Amenhotep III, continued and finished by the famous King Tut and Horemheb, and then added on to by Rameses II and finally by Alexander the Great. Unlike the other temples we had previously visited, this temple is not dedicated to a single cult/god. Instead, it is used as a place to rejuvenate kingship. May of the kings were said to have been coronated at this temple. ...

Japan Winter Holiday 2017 Part 7 - Otaru Sakaimachi

On our second day in Otaru after we had breakfast and ice cream , we continued walking to Sakaimachi. This shopping street is one of the busiest in the city and is where a lot of Otaru attraction is located. In front of one of the stores there, we saw this cute dog wearing a Minion outfit. Of course Miss Kiki jumped and squealed and asked if she could pet it. We asked permission from the owner to take a picture with it. Along the street they have rock statues in the shape of famous characters like Anpanman and Mickey Mouse. With Anpanman It was a very nice day, we were able to walk around and had fun without feeling cold even though there were a lot of ice and snow. Check out the platforms they set up on the hill. We think that it's to prevent snow slides... Most of the buildings there were old style,,,  Many shops sell fresh seafood and they would cook it for you by order. As we walked past a souvenir shop, we saw a poster for these snowball make...
