Motykas in Asia 2015 Part 12 - Hong Kong

On this day we went to see the Big Buddha statue up high on a hill. We took one of the lines of the MTR all the way to the end, near the Hong Kong airport. As soon as we exited the station we found an outlet mall, but with the exchange rate everything was still expensive.

We had Subway for lunch... Ha!

And of course we had coffee.... expensive!

Then we finally headed to the Cable Car station to go up the hill. The line up was quite long, but it was not unbearable. That day was a cold one. When we purchased our ticket, the lady at the counter practically tried to force us to buy a tour package with them but we knew better. We wanted to see the fishing village after the statue and we were told that the only way to get there was by buying the tour package. No way! I've done my quick research... can't fool me!

They had Hello Kitty Cable Car display. Of course I had to pose with it!

We finally started the climb to the Big Buddha statue. It is not an ancient statue, but popular anyway.

Sure enough, we were able to get to the Tai O Fishing Village by Bus for just under HK $7.

The funny thing was... we lined up for a bus to a place that sounded familiar. We assumed it was going to take us to the previous village so we could take the cable car back down. It turned out that the bus took us all the way to the MTR station! Lol... Oh well, live and learn. :D

That evening we had a super yummy dinner with DM, and then they went to see DM's University and Dorm. I on the other hand, went to a street market.

Here's another panoramic take from Tsim Sha Tsui

We're almost done! Stay tuned for part 13!

Nintendo Switch Sleeve Tutorial

Hi! I'm Kirana from woofkiki.blogspot.co.id . I am going to write an introduction for this blog post. We bought a Nintendo Switch in Japan.  I really liked it and played with it almost everyday. If you're wondering what a Nintendo Switch is, it is a video game where you can basically  "switch" everything. The joy-cons and even the game! You can also connect it to your TV. It would be nice to bring it around with you, but when you put it in your bag... Oh no! The screen scratched! So, this is a sleeve that will fix that. Let's get started!šŸ˜Š Kirana Now the tutorial (by Kirana's mom)... 1. Make your pattern according to the picture below. It is basically a 6"x24" rectangle with a semi circle at one end. Note: this is not a printable pattern 1. Cut your outer fabric, lining, and batting(optional). In this tutorial, I used minky for lining and a pre-quilted fabric for the cover, so I didn't need extra batting. For batting, I recomm...

World of Ghibli Exhibition Jakarta 2017

A few months back I received an email about World of Ghibli exhibition in Jakarta. My skeptical brain immediately thought, "Aah, how good could it be... I've visited the museum in Mitaka   and it's probably not going to be any better." Fast forward to August, a few of my Japan loving friends mentioned that rumours said that the displays are very good, made by Indonesians in cooperations with Ghibli representatives from Japan. In fact, so good that the Japanese company plans to take the displays and give them a home in Japan. Well hearing this from several different people definitely piqued my interest and I decided to check it out. It turned out that Miss Kiki and DH also wanted to go so I bought tickets from Traveloka  because they had a sale.  In the morning of our visit day, I asked Miss Kiki if she wanted to dress up as Kiki when she goes and she excitedly said yes. I made her a red bow headband with Cotton and Steel's Supreme Solid in Bandana  ...

Japan Trip June 2016 - Part 9 - Osaka

It was a super hot and bright morning and we were all packed and ready to ride the train to Osaka. We had no excuse to take a taxi so we walked to Kyoto Station... It was a rather short ride considering we moved cities, it was still around noon when we arrived at Osaka Station. The AirBnb property I had booked looked close to the station on the map, but it was further than expected. We were so sweaty by the time we got there, mostly because of our backpacks and our suitcases! I was very impressed Miss Kiki carried her backpack without complaints even though it was pretty stuffed by then. Taken from Osaka Station We had to change our wet and sticky clothes upon arrival, and after a bit of rest we decided to head out. First to Tenjimbashisuji Shopping Street listed on a tourist guide just over 1 km away. It was so hot and sunny I regretted not taking a hat for any of us. I was lucky I hadn't forgotten to bring my sunglasses. When we got there, we real...
