Weekend in Kuala Lumpur June 2015

DH had a workshop to attend in KL, Malaysia this week, so we decided to go there on the weekend and make it a mini vacation... sans Miss Kiki. We were going to take Malaysian Airlines because they had a good deal, but by the time we were going to purchase the tickets, they became quite expensive we ended up taking Air Asia instead. To be honest I like taking Air Asia better because Terminal 3 is much better in terms of line ups and seating areas. Our flight took off and arrived relatively on time, and we arrived at the new KLIA 2 and took the KLIA express train to KL Central. The ticket cost RM 35 per trip, and DH bought me a round trip ticket. At the KLIA 2 station waiting for the express train On the express train We arrived at the KL Central in the afternoon and went straight to check in at the hotel. We chose the Aloft hotel this time, and again, we bought the hotel vouchers at TX Travel Ambassador. Best value we could find. The Aloft hotel is part of t...

Teacher Appreciation Gifts

Today was Miss Kiki's last day of pre-school and this past week I have been crunching my brain about what to get for the teachers. Let me rephrase that: I have been rigorously browsing Pinterest for ideas for presents for her teachers. They have all been very caring and supportive of Miss Kiki's at school, and Miss Kiki loves them all. I am a very grateful mother for that. I wanted a gift that is useful, memorable, and from the heart. After browsing different ideas, I decided that the gift should be personalized with the teachers' names. Now it's just a matter of what it is.... Mugs? Tumblers? Or...?! Lucky for me I have a network of wonderful, talented, smart, supportive, and simply awesome ladies from my alma mater, Santa Ursula High School. One of them owns Pintal Home , a home decor business that can do custom design orders on pouches, totes, pillows, and more. So this is what we came up with... A pouch about the size of a mini iPad, with one of Miss Kiki...

Graduation Keepsake for Miss Kiki

Browsing Pinterest when I need ideas always gives me other ideas unrelated to what I was originally looking for. I'm sure I'm not alone. How about you? Just the other day I was looking for ideas for appreciation gifts for Miss Kiki's school teachers and staff, which I will elaborate more in a near future post; when I came across this idea of giving the book titled Oh, The Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss, with the teacher's notes written all over the book. The idea on Pinterest was to keep it a secret and give the book at high school graduation. I do not want to wait that long though, so I decided to search for this book and ask Miss Kiki's teachers to write something on it. I would give it to her sometime this week. The problem was, I had not been able to find this book at any of the bookstores in Jakarta!! I needed it within two days time. So in a pinch, I gathered all my resources and finally got my hands on a small booklet. I am planning to bring the...
