Applying for Schengen Visa in Jakarta

Just a few days ago I went to apply for a Schengen visa at the Czech Republic Embassy in Jakarta. The processs is actually quite simple. You first need to download the application form on their website, fill it up, prepare all the required documents, and then make an appointment online through the Visapoint system online. It is a good idea to have your complete documents with you at your appointment, because even though they usuakly let you come back to submit the missing documents, many people at the lineup will be cursing you. The following documents are required: 1) Original Schengen Visa Application Form filled in completely (if possible in block letters), legibly and signed by the applicant 2) One good quality passport type photograph, taken within last 6 months. For Jakarta, the width should be between 35 mm and 45 mm 3) Copy of confirmed return flight ticket 4) Passport valid for at least 90 days beyond the validity of the requested visa (with at least 2 (two) blank visa pa

Ribbon Princess - Rapunzel and Tiana

Now... it is time for Rapunzel and Tiana!  I think Rapunzel's hair should be longer but I do like how it is shaped around her head.  Miss Kiki insisted that her arms are bent to show that she is holding her dress. So there... I loooove how Tiana's dress turned out, but I think her hair could be better..... Hm..... Rapunzel Tiana

Ribbon Princess - Jasmine and Mulan

With her friend Mulan. Today was a holiday and the family went to the mall and hung out at Starbucks. Boooooring.......! Unless you make ribbon sculptures! So we managed to make 2 princesses without a ruler. Oh well.... First was Jasmine, which turned out okay but I think her hair is a bit too pointy. Need to fix that next time. For her face and arms I used a slightly darker colour than the ones before, as Jasmine does have a darker colour skin.  The second one was Mulan but instead of the usual bun, I had her hair down instead. I don't like the scene when she was forced into marriage, so I want to celebrate the Mulan towards the end of the movie, with pink gown but hair down. Jasmine head and body. Light brown. Jasmine pants, top, and arms attached. Completed Jasmine without the pin. Miss Kiki insisted that we need to capture her back too.

Ribbon Princess - Anna

I made Elsa last time and it just wouldn't be fair if I didn't do Anna as well now would it? I saw a lot of the Anna ribbon sculpture with two braids and her pants and cloak. So I made an attempt at her beautiful green dress. Not bad, I should say....... Sorry, I got too excited and forgot to take pictures before she was done... Anna

Ribbon Princess - Elsa

I've finally jumped on the Frozen wagon and here is the Elsa version of my ribbon sculptures. While the previous sculptures were made following tutorials from  grosgrainfabulous , this time I had to create Elsa without a tutorial. The inspiration came from  Ella Bella Bows  on facebook.  I think Elsa is a bit more advanced than my previous sculptures, with arms that angle down rather than straight to the side, so I can give her the off shoulder dress. Also her braid and wisps are not too easy. I'm quite happy with the way it turned out though. And even happier is Miss Kiki who will be wearing Elsa to school tomorrow. Elsa Elsa's colours On a clip

Long Weekend In Surabaya

The 1st of April this year marks the very first Labour Day in Indonesia. That means another long weekend for us! We took this opportunity to go meet our friends in Surabaya who are also visiting from Canada. Our plane To my surprise, Surabaya does not have Bakmi GM yet so I bought some at the T3 of Soekarno Hatta Airport to bring to them. We arrived at night, and I wanted to note here that this terminal is a newly renovated one. It was supposed to open on Valentine's Day this year but the eruption of Mt. Kelud that day delayed the opening. It was noticeably cleaner than the Jakarta airport and we were very impressed with the availability of trash cans and recycling bins! It was great to meet again after several years and after a lot of catching up (and still not enough!) we retired to our rooms when the sun was almost up.  In the morning, the guys decided to take their own city tour while we girls hang out. They went and visited Surabaya Landmarks like the Temple of Hea

Batam Overnight

A little while ago I had the opportunity to go to Batam for work, so we decided to make it a trip. We booked Citilink to get there so we went to Terminal 1 of Soekarno Hatta Airport. This brings back memories from when I used see my grandma off at the airport. I hardly ever go to this terminal anymore. View in T1 When we arrived I had a driver picked me up, which was super nice. He was originally fron Central Java, but his verbal Indonesian language sounds like how Sumatrans would speak it and it sounded more like Malay. We had seafood soup at Yong Kee Istimewa Soup  and it was yummy!   Seafood soup After lunch the driver dropped us off at the hotel, the  Swiss Bell Hotel Harbour Bay.  The hotel is quite nice with a small-ish outdoor swimming pool with seating area. Good atmosphere. The location is excellent, considering that it is in the same complex as many different restaurants by the water as well as the Terminal to take the Ferry to Singapore. What I don't l
